Our school, Beaconsfield State School, Mackay, Qld, participated in the performance of ‘Come Play Your Part’ today. We set up a large screen with a projector in the undercover area and ran an internet cable some 40 metres from a classroom to connect to the internet. We disconnected the entire school's computers from the internet to make sure there was enough to hook into the live feed. There were a few hiccups but we did connect and the entire school population of 530 were watching and with 5 mins to the performance the connection froze. We went ahead with the performance. We had a soloist and choir singing the harmony. Today is also our school's 11th birthday so we finished with the singing of Happy Birthday to the school. We are going to do a repeat performance next week to capitalise on the momentum created. My two choirs have also increased in number since the students began learning the song. Every classroom teacher has been supportive by teaching the song during their school day. The children absolutely love the song. Thank you.
