Message from the Minister for Education, Science and Training
I am delighted to support Music. Count Us In, a national initiative to promote the value of music education in Australian schools.

The National Review of School Music Education, commissioned by the Australian Government in 2004, recommended that the status of school music education be enhanced, and that the value of school music education be promoted nationally.

The Australian Government’s support for Music. Count Us In is a practical way to demonstrate our commitment to promoting the value of music education in our schools.

I encourage all Australians to support this great initiative.

Improving music education requires collaborative effort. We all need to help make quality music education a part of the lives of young people and I thank you all for your interest and commitment to music education in Australian schools.

I congratulate everyone involved in making music count, including ‘Music. Play for Life’an initiative of the Music Council of Australia, who are organising this initiative on behalf of the Australian Government.
